Hi, I'm Doug Schrift - otherwise known as "Your Senior Fitness Coach" - and I’ve spent years guiding the growth of thousands of seniors as a Physical Therapist, with strengthening, balance training, stroke rehab, cardiac rehab and more.

I decided to take all of that knowledge and experience and use it to help seniors just like you to achieve success with improved fitness, balance, and strength, and so Eldergym®  Academy was created. This is now my passion and I seriously love spending my days creating content and supporting my members.

Hi, I’m Lee Milne, Senior Exercise Specialist. I’ve been teaching group fitness classes since 1984–the days of leg warmers and big hair! I am a certified Silver Sneakers instructor and a certified Group Fitness and Pilates mat instructor. The highlight of my career was working with cancer survivors through the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. I have “retired” from a program director role and now focus on fitness programming for active aging. I am thrilled to be part of the Eldergym Academy. Let’s move!

  • If you are a frail senior who is unable or poorly able to stand, are a fall risk or afraid of falling, has a balance or neurologic disorder, cannot tolerate exercise, lives alone without family support, is post stroke, has chronic pain,  ...the Academy is NOT for you. You will need professional individualized instruction from a qualified Physical Therapist.
  • If you are looking for a fall prevention program...the Academy may not be for you. Though the academy will improve your strength and balance and reduce your risk of falls,  to prevent falls you need other things like medication management and a home safety evaluation for environmental hazards. See your doctor. 
  • If you are a senior with an unstable medical condition requiring ongoing medical care...the Academy is NOT for you. Check with your doctor to determine if you are able to participate in an exercise program.
  • If you are a senior desiring improved balance and strength, but do not want to exercise several times per week...the Academy is NOT for you. To make progress you will need to practice your strength and balance several times per week.
  • If you are a senior who does not like computer based activities...the Academy is NOT for you. This program is all on-line and requires the use of a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet.
