Hi, I'm Doug Schrift, Physical Therapist, senior fitness coach, and creator of Eldergym Academy. I help seniors become strong and stable even if they have never exercised before.
Not only am I a PT and senior fitness coach, I am a senior myself. I know what it is like to have good days and bad days, painful knees and shoulders, health issues and doctors appointments.

Audrey is a Certified Yoga Instructor, dancer, costume designer, mother, and Coach Doug's better half. Audrey has over 30 years of dance experience along with high level athletics. A former track star and marathoner she has completed the Boston and New York Marathons. Audrey specializes in senior Yoga, chair yoga, and empowering older adults to improve flexibility and core strength.

Hi, I’m Lee Milne, Senior Exercise Specialist. I’ve been teaching group fitness classes since 1984–the days of leg warmers and big hair! I am a certified Silver Sneakers instructor and a certified Group Fitness and Pilates mat instructor. The highlight of my career was working with cancer survivors through the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. I have “retired” from a program director role and now focus on fitness programming for active aging. I am thrilled to be part of the Eldergym Academy. Let’s move!

As an advocate for healthy living , I have enjoyed over 19 years of teaching Tai chi and Qigong to people of all ages. Seeing the benefits and wanting to share them, I also give fall prevention presentations to help promote safer and healthier lifestyles.
I have a back ground in nutritional counseling and am certified through the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi as an integral Qigong and Tai Chi teacher with 200 hours of training. I am a senior trainer of Tai Chi Easy Practice Leaders and also hold accreditation in Tai Chi and Tai Chi Kung.
I am the author of "Seniors Guide to Fall Prevention and healthy Living" and have my DVD "Life Enhancement Exercise with Roxanne" where you can enjoy sitting or standing Qigong and Tai Chi.
I bring my heartfelt sensitivity and authentic expression to my work and love the opportunity to make a difference while leaving a positive imprint on the world.

I am a senior and just barely know how to use the internet.

What is included with my monthly membership?

Will I receive news and announcements from the Academy?
Yes, you will receive a weekly member news email with all the coming activities and new courses and workouts, and any other communication that needs to happen.
Can I get a membership for my parents?
Yes. Just make sure they have a computer, are able to login, and are familiar with how to navigate a webpage. They will need a username and password to login. It is a good idea to help them for a few days to make sure they are safe, have a chair and weights, and can follow along with the exercise videos.
What equipment do I need?
You can start with just some hand weights and an armless chair. I recommend 1-2 pounds for women, and 3-5 for men. Additionally we will use some household props for some of the courses, like cups, spoons, flashlight, pillows and a towel. I will let you know what you need before the course.
Will I have to exercise everyday?
The National Institute of Aging recommends 30 minutes of moderate activity a day for seniors. In the Academy I recommend starting with the beginner videos 3 times a week. Then as you get stronger try 4 days a week which should be plenty to get strong and stable.
I've never exercised before. Is the Academy right for me?
Absolutely - the Academy covers every stage of exercise, warm up,strengthening, cool down - In fact now is the perfect time for you to join the Academy; as not only do we have training that will take you through every step, but you'll also be able to get support and advice from within the community too, to help you through your journey.
I am already exercising. What can the Academy do for me?
Assuming you want to keep growing and improving, then the Academy can help you with fine tuning your exercise program, give you insight into how to correctly exercise, show you new routines to do; as well as supporting you with working towards your future goals. This is certainly not a "beginner only" community - far from it! We've helped many active seniors improve their fitness levels, so there's plenty of expertise on offer that you're sure to benefit from in your continued growth.
Is all of the content available straight away or is it time-released (drip fed)?
You get access to everything already inside the Academy straight away! No waiting for content to be released to you, just jump in and start making use of the training straight away. We regularly update and add new material too - so your content library will continue growing.
Can I get one-on-one help with my exercise program?
You can ask questions and get advice, support and feedback any time from within our community; but we also run weekly live stream Q&A sessions, where you can pre-submit your questions for Doug, or even ask him live.
Can I access the content released at Eldergym® Academy during my membership once I cancel?
No. Your membership entitles you to enter the members area and access the content there released prior and during the duration of your membership. If you cancel or do not renew your membership you will no longer be able to access the content inside the Academy. If you cancel before your billing date you will continue to have access until the end of your billing period.
Can I upgrade to an annual membership later?
You sure can! You can upgrade to annual membership any time with a couple of clicks from your account page. Our system will automatically take into account the time left on your current subscription, so you'll never be double charged either.
What happened to your DVDs?
Thanks for remembering! The DVDs have been discontinued and are now available to members in the Academy as courses.
